 Portraits & Street Photography

Laelia took portraits of many people from all walks of life for publications such as the Jewish Chronicle and the AJR (Association of Jewish Refugees).

Laelia never travelled to Africa but in the 1940’s the story told is that she visited a close friend in Amersham where she lived at the time, who was entertaining some African guests and she was able to photograph them in full regalia. It is not known who they were but it is most likely they were visitors from West Africa.
